I am Helen Eden, representative from western Montana, and have raised and shown French Lops for more than 25 years and Cinnamons for about a year. I've served as a member of the ARBA Youth Scholarship Committee for several years and am the editor of the Washington State Rabbit Breeder's Association Newsletter. I am a middle school teacher starting my 34th year. My husband Jack and I raise and train mules on our 10-acre farm near Hamilton. Former 4-H leaders, the Edens are probably best-known in the rabbit world as the parents of Patrick Eden, ARBA judge now hailing from Illinois. Contact Me...
My name is Diane Nelson and I started in the "rabbit habit" while a youngster growing up in Wisconsin. My first rabbits were Checkered Giants and Flemish Giants as well as some mixed breeds that my family used basically to supplement our dinner table. When we finally arrived in Montana, my son joined 4-H and the rabbits returned. We started back into rabbits with Californians and Holland Lops that my son showed for a number of years until high school functions took over. By then, I was completely hooked on rabbits again and kept the Hollands for myself.
Over the years, I've always loved the challenge of breeding the "perfect" rabbit and still chase that dream today. The Hollands gave room to Mini Rex, Dutch, Tans, English Spots, Florida Whites, Himalayns and most recently, a few Silver Martens. I became an ARBA registrar and really enjoy being able to handle some outstanding rabbits in the process of registration as well as meeting new people while traveling to shows in the region. Hi there...My name is Jackie Sutton, I am the Beaverhead County 4-H Rabbit Leader, and along with my family I raise Mini Rex, Californians, and Cinnamons. We live in the very Southwestern corner of the state where Montana and Idaho meet in the small town of Lima. I have been raising rabbits for 27 years starting out with a small group of commercial type mutts my father rescued from the Humane Society. We mainly raised them for meat, and they became my FFA project when I entered high school. I received the Montana State FFA Specialty Production Award for my rabbits in 1988.
When my children started 4-H I was re-introduced to the idea of showing my rabbits and discovered ARBA and how much fun could be had wandering around the region with my kids and rabbits in tow. Californians have always been my first love, and in the past two years we have added Cinnamons into the herd. We have enjoyed the challenge the Cinnamons represent. We also raise Mini Rex in several varieties, and my oldest son has started into the Tan breed with the help and encouragement of Diane Nelson. Rabbits have become a great adventure we enjoy as a family, and we have met some of the nicest people traveling to rabbit shows. I am honored to have been chosen to be one of your new Montana representatives. Please feel free to contact me at any time. I love to talk about anything to do with this wonderful hobby we all enjoy.
