My husband and I have been members of the ARBA only
since 2004. Our rabbitry number is X208. In the past two years I have discovered that we have a remnant of the American Blue and
White rabbit up here in the Province of Alberta,
probably brought here by farmers from a Christian sect
called the Hutterites. Also, I have come into possession of and
preserved a small herd of Astrex rabbits, which appear
to be extinct in the UK.
I am a founding member of the Canadian Plush Lop
Breeders' Group and club and serve as its secretary. I am also one of three moderators for the on line
forum of the Western Canada Rabbit and Cavy Fanciers and I was very privileged to become a founding member
and secretary of the Western Canada Rabbit and Cavy
Fanciers Club.
I hold a Masters on human genetics and a doctorate in Anthropology. After recovering from a serious illness, I am now semi-retired and am starting to teach again on a
sessional basis in University upgrading at smaller
local colleges. I teach courses in Social
organization, gender studies, research methods, labor
relations, statistics, human ecology, and on the
economics of small scale societies. My husband,
Gordon Drever, is also an Anthropologist, and works
for Athabasca and Northern Lakes Universities. Contact Me...
My name is Judy Currie. Born and raised on a farm in Victoria, B.C. I raised rabbits as a teen for a few years. Since
1980 have had White New Zealands, Dutch for a number of years then branched into Red and Black
New Zealands. Along the way have had Giant and French Angoras for their wool as well. For the
past seven years the New Zealands have been my only breed. I have a good market for my fryers
and this makes choosing keepers for shows much easier.
I am divorced and have a 2 acre hobby farm with the rabbits, sheep, goat, and chickens. Took out
a Life membership in ARBA about 20 years ago. I obtained my registrar’s licence in 2000. Have
been privileged to serve as a Canadian rep.for District One for a number of years. I have worked
for the same employer for 33 years as a Food Service Nourishment worker at their Disabled or
Extended Care facilities. My work requires me to work many weekends but as I receive a lot of
vacation time I can make it to many of the shows to compete and enjoy the company of the other
exhibitors. Contact Me...
